SCT (Stress Concentration Tomography) is the only inspection technique in the world capable of mapping the lateral position and depth of cover of pipes while providing comprehensive defect detection.

Developed by Speir Hunter Ltd., this technology utilizes the physical relationship between stress and magnetization. Local stress changes in the pipe wall—due to corrosion, ground movement, or mechanical defects—create predictable changes in the natural magnetic field. SCT reads these signals from a distance to determine the location and magnitude of the problem.

High Accuracy with UNISCAN™

A Flexible and Diverse Tool

SCT™ has been designed as a cost-saving addition to existing methods of inspection and it can be used in a variety of ways. Weighing less than 8kg and requiring only a 2-man team to operate in the field, UNISCAN™ is rapidly mobilised and can be deployed in many different environmental conditions.

Key Benefits

01

No need for calibration digs to verify the initial predictions of SCT™ or to adjust interpretation of magnetic signatures

02

No need to change operating pressure or flow rates

03

No need to physically alter a pipeline structure prior to inspection

04

No need to induce energy into the pipeline or to turn off CP currents prior to inspection
